Having been around for almost 20 years fueled solely on the passion of hard-hitting ladies and grassroots effort, I worked with the Rose City Rollers to redesign their identity and website.
When looking at visual trends around the sport, I saw brass knuckles, fish nets and even some barbed wire. I wanted to create something that felt new and refreshing, focused on derby, and held as much energy as the sport itself.
The star was chosen as the primary element, representing one of the most important positions in the game: the jammer. The jammer is the only position in the game that has the ability to score points while ruthlessly pushing herself through a line of defenders.
Along with a new primary logo I created supporting marks for a complete identity system. The secondary mark is a reduced version of the primary logo meant for smaller sizes. The badges are used for marketing and merch to help raise money and awareness for the league. Each logo is meant to express the league in a unique way while being similar enough to tie the brand together cohesively.
